Soner ÖZER

He graduated from Ankara State Conservatory Department of Percussion Instruments in 1989.
He gave educational concerts in schools and participated in radio and television programs in order to promote percussion instruments.
Soner Ozer was honored by "Europe's Best Percussionist" Sylvio Guarda with his words “extraordinary talent” and was accepted to the artist's class at the Versailles Conservatoire in Paris.
He worked with Yves Bruestaux, William Blanc, Luis Conte and John Mayer on classical, jazz and modern percussion in Switzerland and USA.
Özer, who emphasized Turkish rhythms and melodies in his works by focusing on the music of the dance, composed and performed rhythm compositions for the Modern Dance Ensemble, AFTUD, HU Folk Dances Ensemble, Sultan's of the Dance etc.
As Özer Percussion Duo, he performed the first stage of Bela Bartok ‘Two Pianos – Sonnats for Two Percussions” in Turkey with “Ufuk-Bahar Fourth Piano Duo”.
He participated in the Houston festival with Özer Percussion Project, MDT and DURUL Gence Six groups as guest of honour in 1995, gave concerts that attracted great interest.
Participating in all the leading festivals in Turkey, the artist, contribute to the world premiere of Fazıl Say’s and Hüseyin Sermet's works and the CD recordings as a guest artist.
So far, he gave concerts in the USA, Germany, Australia, Austria, China, Dominican Republic, Estonia, France, Finland, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Cyprus, FYR Macedonia, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Syria and Greece, and he participated to the concerts of Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Bursa State Symphony Orchestra, Anatolian University Symphony Orchestra, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra, Çukurova Symphony Orchestra and HÜ Symphony Orchestra.
Turkish works for percussion and string instruments were first performed in Pakistan and then in MAYFEST in New York in 2005 by 'TURQUARTET and Özer Percussion Duo'. At the same time, the artist was invited to University of New York by Jonathan Hass, Head of Percussion Instruments at the University of New York, and gave an introductory concert as PERCUSSION DUO consisting of the composition of Turkish rhythms.
The artist was invited to the International Percussion Festival held in Madrid as ÖZER PERCUSSION Duo, and gave concerts with Spain's leading percussion groups.
The artist also worked on music branches such as ethnic and popular music and worked with Zuhal Olcay, Nükhet Duru, Ozan Doğulu, Serkan Çağrı, Göksel Baktagir and Mercan Dede.
The artist, who focuses on body percussion on concentration, prepares a method that includes his education system and educates students at all ages.
SONER Özer performs in Ankara State Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and continues to work on joint projects with artists from Turkey and abroad.
